Insuring UK GardensLloyds has just announced that UK residents need to be aware of potential danger and whether their insurance will cover it. Lloyds TSB has decided to make sure UK residents are insured for their backyards, which can be a goldmine for burglars. In a recent study one out of ten gardens has been found to have over 3000 pounds worth of items in it during the summer season. Some of the most expensive items generally cost over 400 pounds. These items include exotic plants, tools, furniture, and other garden options. More than a quarter of Brits spend six hours a week in their gardens. Many of the home owners have never checked to see if their garden furniture and other items are covered in their home insurance policy. About half of the Brits with a garden have ever checked their policy to make sure their belongings are covered in the garden. Legal and General has also been urging customers to check their policies and make the necessary changes. The fact that there is a great deal of money lying in your garden should help you make that call. Some of the insurance policies will not cover the furniture left outside over night because of the high risk, while others are more willing. Back To Financial News April 2008 |
