Inheritance Tax

We often change history by changing what we remembered happened in the past rather than actually remembering what did.  The theatre is one great place to see a spin on history take a dive from the truth and offering up opinion.  It is true that there are a lot of ways for history to be changed and part of the point is that there has been a debate in the Conservative Party recently regarding tax and spending.  The debate is actually going to affect the outcome of the next election.  The conservative party is trying to gain power in the UK in order to be an alternative for the Government currently in place.  The Conservatives started to try for power last fall.  They have decided to play on the last few years of history where they have not been in power and how they helped when they were in power.

The Chancellor George Osborne made an announcement on Monday that there would be an abolition of inheritance tax.  It seems this announcement was extremely popular among the people as the inheritance tax can be rather high.  The tax cut would be the turning point for the power change and the release of the news actually created a lot of talk regarding the Conservative party in the last few months in the news at the very least.  The individuals who are looking back over the last few months are wondering what has happened to the tax cuts and why the momentum has slowed.  They would like to again see tax cuts and more policies that would help the agenda.  It seems that history was actually lacking in what really happened in this last call.

George Osborne announced the inheritance tax, but the actual tax cut proposal was not really addressed.  Instead the announcement was made and the audience declined to really discuss the topic.  While the media pushed the announcement as a good thing, the actuality was that the terms were not discussed.  It seems the proposal for a flat rate tax was of more concern to help raise money rather than any cuts being considered.

As always the talk of what is happening seems to be more than off base.  Another example regarding the upcoming elections and the change of power is the recent trip by Gordon Brown talking about a dramatic reduction in troops in Iraq.  Then there was an announcement that the election would not be held.  Most talk from Brown and Darling ensued regarding the inheritance tax as well.

It seems that the Tories are now in a position to benefit from the Government’s mistakes and could respond correctly in the media regarding a calming manner.  The Tories are sidestepping the tax issue and are instead talking about environment and schools.  While the tax cuts are still important to the discussions it seems other things are taking the front row of importance.  Other changes occurring are in regards to the spending increases being discussed and whether those amounts should increase.
