Air Miles Credit Cards in the USA
In the USA consumers are cashing in on some fantastic opportunities where airlines have affiliated with the major credit card companies.
US Airways new credit card which is fee free in the first twelve months offers fifteen thousand extra air miles as a bonus with the first use of the card, ten thousand air miles if you transfer a balance from your existing cards and two $99 air fares when one full price ticket is purchased. On top of this you get access to the quick access lines that are usually reserved for what they call Elite Fliers.
AA American Airlines will waive the fee for the first twelve months; let you have twenty thousand air miles, a $50-off gift certificate and a free internal ticket as long as you buy a full price ticket worth £299 or more.
UA, United Airlines waive the fee for the first twelve months and will give you twenty one thousand air miles as soon as your spending exceeds $250, a complimentary upgrade either to business class or first class for flights not exceeding one thousand miles plus a $25 discount on any flight.
Continental Airlines has more than one card choice; one includes fifteen thousand air miles 5% percent discount off flights, but has refused to waive any fees.
Northwest Airlines offers air miles and the opportunity for frequent-fliers tickets for twenty five thousand miles instead of twenty one thousand. The airline has sent out marketing collateral offering to waive the first twelve months fee, something not to be found on its website.
Interest rates on these cards are high in comparison to others, so free cards can cost you a great deal more in the long run if you create a big balance and cannot afford to pay off the balance each month. Also you must remember that this sort of deal can be changed at any time especially of not cut off date is specified. |
