Loans are out Credit Cards are in

Many consumers in the UK have been taking out fewer loans and mortgages for a variety of reasons in the last few months. Part of that reason is the credit crunch and the tighter regulation on the loans and mortgages. This has meant that the UK consumer is going for the credit card products on the market because they are still a little easier to obtain. These consumers needed to find a way to still pay for items in the credit crunch and credit cards are a way to fund their debt.

Paul Doughty, a chief financial officer, has stated that the credit card business is growing at a significant rate. The loans and mortgages are going to slow even more until they are available in an easier way again. It seems that the providers have made it too difficult and slow to obtain a loan at the moment.

Many consumers need an answer for their debt and expenses issue much faster than the loan or mortgage can offer. Many are expecting the credit cards to keep on rising as the zero percent interest on balance transfers are extended through 2009. Consumers will be more comfortable having an extension on their debts.
