Lloyds TSB
The Lloyds TSB is a bank, which is owned by the Lloyds Bank and the TSB. The Lloyds Bank started way back in 1765, by Sampson Lloyd and John Taylor in Birmingham, England. Their sons followed their footsteps and formed the Barnetts Hoares Hanbury and Lloyd and it was headquartered in London’s busy Lombard Street. Finally, it became the Lloyds Banking Company.
In the last few decades, the Lloyds Bank has gone through a process of multiple mergers and acquisitions with the inclusion of the likes of the Wilts and Dorset Bank and the Capital and Counties Bank. In 1988 they shifted from banking into life insurance with a strategic alliance with the Abbey Life Insurance Company and this created the Lloyds Abbey Life company.
The merger with the TSB group took place on 28 December, 1995 and by September 1996; Lloyds Abbey Life became a completely-owned subsidiary of the Lloyds TSB Group.
